A reduction of £4OO in the stakes fixed for the Takapuna Jockey Club’s summer meeting bn January 29 and 31 has been decided upon by the committee. The total amount is.reduced from £4825 to £4425 and the cut is spread over 13 races,, the Takapuna Cup (£600), Wynyard Plate ( £500) and Hobson Handicap (£250) not being touched. The - introduction of the five shillings totalisator' at Ta'-spuna has proved a success, but the general drop in the volume of totalisator investments, and consequently in revenue to the club, is still so large as to make the lowering of stake values necessary. In three races the reduction is £5O and in ten races £25.
