WELLINGTON FIRM’S BIG LOSS.
GARMENTS'APPARENTLY TRIED ON
By Telegraph*—-Press Association. . . 'Wellington, Dec. 18.,. Clothing to the value of several hundred pounds and £2 or £3 in small cash was stolen from the mercer s shop of Vance-Vivian last night. The interior of the premises, presented a strange sight when one of the proprietors arrived this morning to open the shop, the stock' having been thoroughly ransacked. 1 Entrance was gained through the rear of the building, a hole being cut in tlie three-ply wall big enough to enable a hand to be inserted and turn the door lock. On the. first' floor suits and other clothing were strewn all over the flopr. Apparently all the stolen property had been fitted on, and unwanted garments had been thrown down. Dozens of dinner suits and most of the stock of silk dressing gowns were taken, a traveller’s sample case, which had been left in the building overnigjit, being used to remove the goods. At the moment it is difficult to estimate the total value of the .stolen property. , ’ .7 „
