Miss Gladys Watkins, of Wellington, the'only woman of British nationality to become a graduate of the famous CavilIn School of Malines r Arrived in Sydney from Europe by the. Otranto. She will give a recital on the Sydney University war memorial carillon on Sunday afternoon and on evening. Miss Watkins described Josef Denyn, her tutor, as a remarkable man who, although more than 60 years old, was wonderfully alert and full of youthful vigour. He hadTieen playing for more than 40 years, climbing 409 steps leading to his belfrey in the great tower of Strombold’s Cathedral School, of which he was director. The school was subsidised by the Belgian Government. Miss Watkins ia no wregarded as a distinguished carilloneur. She worked co zealously under M. Denyn that, she established a record in gaining her diploma in 14 months.
