EAST END SWIMMING
CLUB NIGHT AT BATHS. PRESENTATION TO CAPTAIN. There was a good attendance of mem* here of the East End Club at the New Plymouth baths last night for the weekly club evening. Races resultedi—* Boys’ 33 1-3 yards.—A. Allan 1, E. Coleman 2, Hendenson and J. McLean 3. Boys’ diving.—F. Ainsworth 1, N. Waters 2, A. Allen and J. Hendenson 3. Men’s 50 yards.—Henderson 1, G. Roberts 2, N. Gardiner 3. . \ Men’s 100 yards.—E. Coleman 1, B. penwarden 2, L. Kett 3. Men’s diving.—G. Williams L. Kerr 2, C. McLean 3. The club members held an enjoyable , social in the East End pavilion on Wednesday evening for Mr» S. Hogarth •> (club captain), who is shortly to be married. The evening was spent dancing, playing cards, competitions ahd community singing. The dance music was supplied by Messrs. L. and M. Kerf. Solos were sunt? by Messrs. L. and G. Kerr. Mr. F. Coleman (chairman) presented Mr. Hogarth with a fruit bowl as a token of the esteem in which club members held him During last week-end the alarm bell ' on the beach was tested and excellent ! alarm practices were held. The senior®, juniors and boys did life-saving drill and water work.
