At the game meeting Hunting Lion ran third in the second division of .the Two-year-old Handicap. Gay Ballerina gave a taste Of her quality under 9.5 at Moorefield on Saturday over six furlongs. She did not have a good field to beat, but what appreciated the victory was the manner of it in fdee of difficulties. She did not receive a good run early and had to run round the leaders at the turn. Up the short straight she stretched out like a greyhound and won going away by nearly two lengths from the ex-A.R.C. galloper Saririch. 6 # * * * Pahu, who has completely recovered from his mishap at Riccarton, is an early Nney for the Manawatu Cup. Pahu had friends for the New Zealand Cup after winning the Wellington Handicap with 7.4, 'but he was not able to start in the two-miler.
