S. MARY’S CONCERT
END OF TERM FUNCTION. BRIGHT PROGRAMME . GIVEN. In addition to the sports and presentation of prizes that will be. held at S. Mary’s school, Stratford, /to-day, pupils gave the first of a series of end-of-term concerts at the school last night. - As well as the children, there was a good attendance of parents, and friends whose attention to and applause of every item testified to the excellence of the performers’ work. That the children were wel Iversed in their, subjects was demonstrated by their’ capable execution and. careful attention to detail. These characteristics were particularly noticeable in the short plays in which the players showed, aptitude and through knowledge of their parts. ■ . Accompaniments in sympathy with the work of the performers were played by Misses Riera and N. Josephson. The programme was:—“Jerusalem,” school; part song, seniors;, recitation, juniors; piano, K. Amon; piano, J. . Quilliam; French rhymes, juniors; recitation, B. Stalker; violin solo, I. Josephson; piano solo, M. Condon; piano, M. Townend; -play, “Maker of Dreams,” B. Forester,-. P.- Valintine and N. Petrie; new church organ, H. Rutherford; recitation, J. Quilliam; violin solo, L. Penn; songs, juniors;, recitation, L. Hunter; songs, seniors; recitation (French), P. Valintine; song, B. Forester; play, French middles; piti.no solo, N. Josephson; songs, seniors; Christmas carol. DISTRIBUTING SHOW PRIZES. STRATFORD ASSOCIATION AWARDS Over £BOO will be paid in prize money by the- Stratford A. and P. Association And an endeavour is being made to diepatch all' the cheques—more than 1<?00 in number—so '.they will "reach the Recipients before Christmas. [pedigree Jersey class, trophy valued at £5 — MMr. Trilby King (Stratford). .Pedigree ‘Jersey class, novice section, trophy valued at £2.—-Mr, W. Johnson (Ngaere). Pedigree Friesians, FriesianAesociatibn gold medal.—Mr. T, H. Richards (Cardiff). - . Pedigree Shorthorn section, challenge cup donated by Sir. H. Trimble (Tariki).—Mr. W. P. Bobtteri (Rawhitiroa). ■Sheep, . Romney Marsh.—Mr. W. ( B. Hunt (Waverley). . Southdown.—A. Verry (Waitotara). The competition for the best set of three photographs taken at the show was won by Mr. T. Kirkwood. Miss J, Beale being second. Mr. Kirkwood’s pictures were of a prize cow, a horse event in the oval, and a driver in the goat race. .Miss Beale’s were of the calf-parade,-the steer riding and a competition in the national dancing. ;Ah indication of the Dominion-wide-fhme of the show is the fact that prizes yp-ill be sent to competitors as far away as Whangarei and Invercargill.
