NEW ZEALAND, CHEMIST RETURN'S PROGRESS OF ORGANIC CHEMISTRY By Telegraph.—Press Associatidn. Wellington, Last Night, Returning to New ‘ Zealand after an absence of four years Dr. J, R. Hos king, who has been doing research work in organic chemistry in Europe, arrived at Wellington' by the Corinthic to-day. He is a son of Lady Hosking and the late Mr. Justice Hosking. / Dr. Hosking took the degrees B.Se. and Ph.D. in New Zealand, his thesis incorporating the results of research in kauri resin. When he left New Zealand he went to Holland, and berime private assistant to Professor Ruzicfca,. professor of organic research on rreins and oils. Dr. Hoeking’s wife is a chemist also and took her B.Sc. degree at Utrecht. In the past few years, said Dr. Hosking, many important contributions'had been made to science. In the wide field of organic chemistry one;of the. most striking was the progress made in the chemistry of vitamins and the artificial preparation of vitamin D.
