A message from Lob Angeles says that the fashionable Malibu Beach, the Arcadia of film stars and wealthy business and professional folk, was shaken by a mysterious explosion and ravaged by the resultant fire early on Monday morning. Eighteen’ residences and other property were destroyed. The damage is estimated at 800,000 dollars.
The occupants, including many peekend guests, were driven into the biting morning cold in meagre attire. The explosion occurred near the home of George <l6 Sylva, the song writer. The fire burned for three hours.
Among those jvho lost their homes are Louise Fazenda, Marie Prevost, Allen Dwan, George de Sylva, James Malcolm Taylor and Oliver Marsh.
