IMPROVING WEATHER.

Wellington, Last Night. ..The weather will be mainly fair in western districts from Taranaki southwards; elsewhere cold and changeable' with intermittent showers and in places hail, but conditions will'improve soon. The depression is passing eastwards. An anti-cyclone of slight intensity is advancing over the Tasman Sea, while an extensive and vigorous depression is covering eastern Australia. Strong southerly winds to gales are probable, moderating shortly an.l later veering to westerly in the far south. Seas will be rough generally, especially south of East Cape, but later decreasing.
