A CORRECTION.

(To the Editor.) Sir,-—With reference to your report on the combined Sunday schools’ service held on Sunday in the Opera House, would you by publishing this letter kindly correct your statement which commences, “The Rev. Clarence Eaton presided and other Protestant ministers took part in the /service.” As one of those who “took part” I desire that my name should be excluded from the appellation “other Protefetant ministers.” The Church of England is part of the “true Catholic and Apostolic Church” founded by Christ, and it is to this church that I have the honour to belong. Throughout the making of (the arrangement* for this service it was never represented to me as a gathering eqlely of the Pp>tenant Sunday Schools of New Plymouth and district, or that this name would be applied to the inclusive gathering. Hsd this been so I would not have been there nor would Any of the children of our Sunday School have been present with my approval and sanction. I am whole-heartedly with the idea of combined services, as I believe they are or should be instructive, both positively and negatively. Unity ie most desirable, but uniformity ia quite impossible. —I am, etc.,

WILLIAM S. C. STEPHENS, Vicar of Holy Trinity. The Vicarage, Fitzroy, Dec. 15, 1030.
