MANNING OF MOTOR SHIPS
TRIP TO ISLANDS CANCELLED.
By Telegraph.—Press Association.
Auckland, Last Night. The intended trip to' Norfolk Island by the new motor vessel Taupata has been cancelled owing, to trouble with the crew. The Taupata was built by Mr. George Niccol and when she was completed last week she was sold to the Anchor Shipping and Foundry Co., Wellington. She. was to have been taken over by the new owners when she returned from Norfolk Island.
On Thursday" the members of the crew signed on the vessel and commenced their duties. To-day, after working for four hours, five seamen informed the captain that they wished to be paid off, but no reason was given. Afterwards it was announced that owing to the men’s action the trip had been abandoned.
The dispute is in connection with the manning scale
