SERIOUS DISSENSION IN CONGRESS
.PRESIDENT’S REQUEST ATTACKED

The first serious dissension in the present session of Congress occurred upon the transmission by President Hoover of a request for £30,000,000 to be appropriated immediately for unemployment relief by spending on public works, the money to be administered by ths President. The request was immediately attacked by both Houses, the demand being made that Congress should indicate how the money should be spent. It was intimated an amending pronosal be introduced for appropriating £5O 000,000 to provide work for one million men for three months on roads throughout the country. “
