NORTH TARANAKI DAIRY COMPANY.
(To The Editor.) \ Sir.—In the matter of cream grading two points seem obvious; firstly, that it is impossible for any man to taste sample after sample of cream daily and say definitely which is fit to make superfine butter; secondly, that every right minded'supplier will endeavour, in any case, to send his cream in the best condition but more especially would he endeavour if there were no question of an irritating penalty. As regards the application of the penalties collected through this system of guess-work, I submit that it concerns us no more, or less, than .the application of any fines, collected through the medium ■of the law. Therefore I suggest that instead of quarrelling amongst ourselves, we, as members of a co-operative company;’’should throw all our weight into an endeavour to get this iniquitous Act repealed. In apologising for using valuable space in your columhs, I should like to say that I might have aired my views at the proper time and in the proper place, if I had received a notice informing me of an impending meeting from our company’s secretary. — : I am, etc., H. GRYLLS. Okoke Road.
