It" decided to reduce the salaries bf the engineer and the clerk by 20 per cent; Other reductions affect the foreman; the bridge' foreman and drivere. All .'will fake effect'on January 1 next. It was also decided to give preference of employment to married men, with specified exceptions. No men who are owners bf property will be employed on the'council’s outeid.e staff.
