AID OF PLANE AND CRUISER
MAN INJURED AT WHITE ISLAND. AMPUTATION OF . HAND LIKELY. j By TeleGraph.-—Press Association. ’ • i < Auckland,,Dec. 4. Both the Fairey seaplane, which brought prompt medical assistance, and the cruiser Dunedin played a part yesterday in aiding Trevor Wilson, a seaman, who was injured at mid-day on Great Barrier Island ’ and brought to Auckland. J Wilson, aged IS, received severe injuries to his left arm and back through being caught in a .winch while loading firewood on a scow. The owners, on being advised by. telegram of the accident, sent a doctor in the seaplane and arranged for the naval base to wireless the Dunedin .(at manoeuvres in the Gulf) to pick up Wilson and transport him to Auckland. He was sent to hospital .in. the Evening,rqmd’is progressing favourably, but it is likely that his hand will-have to be amputated.
