For Manawatu. Sir Charles Clifford will probably race some horses at the 'Manawatu and Wairarapa meetings during the approaching holidays. The team may be made up of Full Feather, Straightcourse, Sharp Thorn, arid Porlock. The last-named is a black two-year-old fijly by The Acb from Red Hind. She has done no racing yet, but she has .shown some promise of 'being a useful galloper. Fox Wins.

Paratoo’s Chance.

In running a good second to 'Cylinder in the New Zealand Derby Paratod showed himself to be a useful type of thfce-ycar-old. He has not been a lucky horse and lost his maiden status only this season, but it is apparent that middle-distante events suit him best. He claims an engagement in the chief handicap at the Woodville meeting next Tuesday, and it must not be forgotten that good weight-for-age form t-kes a lot of beating in handicaps. Paratoo is meeting some fair performers, but, with 7.13, he appears to ‘be very nicely placed. A Likely Sort.

Knollmere, who won the maiden event at Feilding on Saturday, can be ticked off as a likely sort to win in better company. He is by Grandcourt from Orozino. who is out of D’Oro, a sister to Desert Gold and Nigger Minstrel. Knollmere, who was having his _ first race, showed aptitude at the barrier and led all the way to stall off a strong challenge from Pewa. Knollmere is described as a good-looking three-year-old and he gives every indication that he will run out a much longer distance when seasoned. Billy Dwyer trains him and the Grandcourt juvenile is not likely to foe knocked about.
