CARILLON FOR WELLINGTON
CAMPANILE PLANS APPROVED. By Telegraph.—r Press Association. Wellington, Dec. 3. •At a meeting of the board of trustees of the National Art Gallery and. Domini'.m Museum, plans for the proposed carillon tower, which provide for a massive square campanile, 146ft' high, of reinfor cd concrete, were formally approved, and it fwas decided to call for alti.—'ative tenders for a skeleton tower only for the suspension of the 49 bells of. the carillon, and for the complete tower. The board also decided to call tenders for the demolition of the old brick gaol on Mount Cook, the site of the memorial, and it is hoped that the work on this will be--commenced after- the holidays.
