RAILWAY PROSPECTS STRESSED. “ROAD CANNOT SERVE DISTRICT.” By Telegraph.—Press Association. , Gisborne, Nov. 22. A Gisborne railway delegation, under the Mayor as president, sent the act-ing-Prime Minister a request that the Parliamentary Committee investigating the railway Construction programme should visit Poverty Bay to gain firsthand . information regarding the potentialities and prospects for the railway, and the future development of the district.
“We maintain,” the delegation states, “that the district can never be .adequately served by road, and strongly protest against the action of the Public Works Department in putting off wren and thus stopping the progress of the work”
