EVERYBODY’S.

“MOVIETONE FOLLIES OF 1930.” 'Sensational in the staging of its musical numbers, entrancing in story and the epitome of vibrant youth at play, f‘The New Movietone Follies of 1930” made its bow at Everybody’s Theatre, New Plymouth on Saturday last. An unusually strong cast of stage and screen favourites presents this year’s edition of “Movietone Follies,’ including El Brendel, Marjorie White, Frank Richardson, Noel Francis; William Collier, Jr., Miriam Seegaf, J. M. Kerrigan, Yola D’Avril, Huntly Gordon and Paul Nicholson. In addition, there are numerous specialty singers and dancers and a dancing ensemble of 300. After seeing and hearing the “New Follies” on Saturday one must_ heart! y endorse the statement thpt it is bigger and brighter and funnier than its predecessor, the “1929 Follies,” which was the original “Follies” of the audible screen. A most delightful story weaves its way throughout the production, and seven songs —brand new and every one a sure hit—are presented by the, members of the cast. The comedy provided by El Brendel and Marjorie White is hilarious and entirely new, whilst the chorus and dance ensembles are a treat for eye and ear. For a night of re<|l joy everyone is recommended to see “The New Movietone Follies of 1930.” The supporting-programme includes Fox Movietone News, Kingsford Smith’s Arrival in New York, “Crosby Corner ’ (all-talking comedy) and Charles Hackett (tenor). Screenings will be repeated to-night and to-morrow night.
