LEVINE LODGED IN PRISON
ALLEGED COUNTERFEITING STATE ATTORNEY TO DECIDE POLICE NOT DROPPING CASE THE DEFENCE OPTIMISTIC By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 10 p.m. Vienna, Nov. 19. The millionaire airman Charles Levine, charged with counterfeiting, has been removed from the police cells and lodged in the Assize Court prison. This means the police believe there is sufficient evidence to justify sending the case to the State Attorney, who will examine the papers and decide whether to abandon or proceed with the case. In the latter event Levine’s counsel will apply for bail. '
The change at present is ah offence under a clause of the criminal code dealing with the procurement of apparatus for counterfeiting money. Counsel is optimistic he will be able to convince the authorities that Levine was only making inquiries as to the possibility of supplying medallions for distribution in America similar to the medal struck for Colonel Charles Lindbergh.
