LIKES HEAVY GOING

TRUE BLOOD W BEST FORM, The Archery gelding True Blood has always been seen at his best when the sting was-out - of the going, ■ and during the past couple of seasons he has proved himself a useful handicapper, when the company was not too select. The Te Rapa couise appears to: be his favourite track, and last week-end he won the big race each day, repeating his performance of twelve months ago. As a two-year-old True Blood showed promise, but, except for a single win and a few minor plaeings, he-failed to live up to his reputation the following season. As a four-year-old he started four times without earning any prizemoney, and an unplaced performance was marked against him the following season in his only essay. Since he has gone into the hands of X- ’S. Shore, True Blood has staged a really remarkable come-back, and last season he won the Cornwall and Par- ’ liamentary Handicaps from good fields. Shore is one of the younger school of trainers, but he seems to understand True Blood, and this season he ran a good second in the Whangarei Cup before notching clear-cut wins in the ■ Waikato Cup and Hamilton Handicap. However, True Blood is now a seven-year-old and probably the best has been seen of him, but there may be a good many more wins for him before he is retired. I True Blood claims high-class breeding as the following pedigree shows:— Dam: (Bonny Helen (sister to the dam of Reremoana),.by Boniform (halfbrother to Martian) from Helen Portland, by Dorchester from Lady Helen, by Pkil Athol from Lady Fanny, by - Barbarian from Lady Elizabeth, by Sir Hercules. Sire: Archery, by Tracery from Port Sunlight by Sundridge (sire of Aosurd and the Derby winner Sunstar) from Wife of Bath, by St. Simon from Canterbury Pilgrim, by Tristan from Pilgrimage.. True Blood’s record to date reads; —
