RUGBY IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS
UNION GIVES ENCOURAGEMENT. CANADIANS SUGGEST VISIT. .By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night agreed that the game should be encouraged in primary schools and decided to make a grant of £4O to each team competing at annual tournaments. The Taranaki Union wrote asking for a grant of £6O to conduct a quadrangular tournament between Hutt Valley, Rangitikei, Horowhenua and Taranaki. A similar request came from Wairarapa. The Canadian Rugby Union wrote suggesting the visit of a Canadian boys’ team to New Zealand next season. The letter was referred to the secondary schools’ association.
