SYDNEY MEAT SHORTAGES

Failure of the negotiations to end the meat strike is causing much concern in the metropolitan area. Both sides are row marshalling their forces for a protracted struggle. The retail shops are rationing their employees and a number will have to close at the. week-end. The master butchers have ordered fresh supplies from adjoining. States, but the Victorian branch of the Meat Employers’ Union has resolved not to handle meat for New South Wales while the strike continues. A shipment, however, is on the way from Queensland.
