Reid was hostess at a very jolly dance at her residence on Tuesday evening as a farewell to Mrs. E. J. Brock, who leaves early next month for Darg.aville. # # * * Among the guests at the Criterion Hotel this week have been Mrs. Frank Hay, Wellington, Mias D. Frost, Wellington, and Miss Hatcher, Sydney. —- # * * # The flower 'stall in connection with “Baby Day” will be in the hands of the Victoria League and will be held all day in the league rooms to-morrow. The Victoria League will be grateful for gifts of flowers, which may be left at the rooms from 9 o’clock onwards to-morrow. An excellent musical programme in the afternoon is being arranged by Mrs. W. Brodie. The league rooms will be open all day to the public. | ENGAGEMENTS. I The engagement is announced of Emily Leah, fifth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geary, Opunake, to Harry Joseph, third son of Mr. and Mrs. Frost, Omata. ELTHAM BIRTHDAY EVENING. Mr. and Mrs. E. Beech, Hunter Road, gave, a most enjoyable party at their residence last Friday evening in honour of their daughter Gladys’ 21st birthday. The evening was spent in games and various competitions. Supper was served and Miss Beech cut the cake, which was beautifully decorated with 21 candles. Among those present were Mesdames Beech, Scown and Roberts, the Misses Gladys, Vera, Phyllis and 1 Edith Beech, M. Startup, N. Gadsby, M. I Kelly and Joan, Doris and Rita Nicholas. > -
