NEW ZEALAND SHIPMENTS. THE DOMINION'S COMPETJTORS. Exports of butter from the Dominion' last month totalled 9746 tons, a decrease of 578 tons compared with October, 1929. For the three months of the season ended October. 31, the exports were 17,491 tons, a decrease of 516 tons compared with the corresponding period of last year. The fact that two large shipments of dairy produce left in the first week of this month more than accounts lor the decreases shown. Last month only I'2o tons of butter (for Vancouver) went to Canada,jas against 2741 tons in October, 1929. Of the butter shipped iu October to the United Kingdom the position at time of shipment was that 93 per cent, was consigned and only 7 per cent, sold f.0.b., as against GO per cent, consigned and 40 per cent, sold f.o.b. in October, 1929. Cheese exports last month totalled 6374 tons, a decrease of 642 toqs as compared with October, 1929. For the three months the exports were 10,917 tons, a decrease of 236 tons as compared with the corresponding period last year. The whole of the cheese exported last month was consigned as against 91 per cent, consigned and 9 per cent, sold f.o.b. in October, 1929. White cheese formed 67 per cent, and coloured 33 per cent, of the shipments as compared with 60 per cent, and 40 per cent, respectively in October, 1929. That Britain is now practically the Dominion’s only customer of any account for butter and cheese is shown in the following comparison of shipments for the three months ended October : — Butter.

i Australian and Argentine Increases. Both Australia and the Argentine have doubled their exports of, butter this season. Australia shipped 6279 tonsbf but-, ter last month, as against 3756 tons in, October, 1929. For the three months ended October 31' her exports were 11,091 tons of butter, an increase of 5344 tons, and 942 tons of cheese, an increase of 831 tons, as compared with the corresponding period of last year. The Argentinue shipped 3485 tons of butter for the three months, as against 872 tons a year ago. The butter shipments from New Zealand, Australia and the Argentine to Britain during October show the following increases, as compared with the same month of last year:

Britain’s Imports Increase. Imports of butter into Britain last month were 25,775 tons, as against 18,885 tons in October, 1929, an increase of 6890 tons. Imports from Russia, Finland and Sweden were greater by 1622 tons, and from Denmark by over 1100 tons. The imports of cheese last month were less than in October, 1929 and 1928.
