ADVANCE OF BROADCASTING
ANNIVERSARY IN ENGLAND. SYSTEM LIKE PHONE PREDICTED. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. London, November IG. To-day is the eighth anniversary of broadcasting in England. Sir Oliver Lodge predicts that in the very near future the whole world will be linked up and receive broadcasts with the same clearness as the local programmes. Captain F. D. Eckersley, late engineer to the British Broadcasting Corporation, expects that in future wireless will be laid on to houses, instead of being received through sets, and that within a decade householders will have buttons to press and an infinite choice of programmes.
