FIRE FIGHTERS’ FAILURE
INADEQUATE WATER SUPPLY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Fire destroyed the nine-roomed house of Mr. F. A. Price at Papatoetoe this morning. A fight of over two hours by the. Papatoetoe Fire Brigade ended in failure on account of lack of a suitable water supply. The house was insured for £3OOO in the Commercial Union Office and the furniture and contents were insured, for £llOO with the New Zealand Insurance Company. The house was built eight years ago. Only a small quantity of furniture and effects and Mr. Price's war relics and his trophies of the hunt were saved.
