CATAPULT FOR PLANES
MACHINES SHOT INTO AIR. INCREASE IN THEIR MOBILITY. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Nov. 16. The Air Minister’s experts have perfected portable catapults for shooting up aeroplanes, obviating the necessity of large aerodromes. A Fairey-Napier bomber was successfully launched in a space of 30 yards. Wheel brakes enabled the plane to land in the same distance. The combination of inventions and the fact that the catapult can be packed and transported by motor tractor will increase the mobility of fighting planes with the armies, especially where aerodromes do not exist.
