GUY FAWKES’ NIGHT DANCE
ST. MARY’S HALL PACKED. The Guy Fawkes carnival cabaret dance held in St. Mary’s Hall, New Plymouth, last night by the Holy Trinity Young People’s Club -was very popular, attracting an attendance of about 300 dancers. As a conclusion to the club’s first season it was very encouraging and financially helpful. The committee, led by Mr. W. M. Webster (convenor) and the Rev. W. S. C. Stephens (president), had taken a great deal of trouble to make the entertainment a fitting one for such an occasion. The lighting effects were especially attractive, and oh. the stagefront a “Guy” was burning merrily all the evening. As the dance proceeded carnival hats, masks and balloons were distributed and novel effects introduced. McNeill’s orchestra helped the dancers to enjoy the evening, in spite of the very crowded! floor. The other members of the committee in charge of the dance were Mrs. W. M. Webster, Mrs. Chivers, Misses Greatbach, D. Rennell, Gentles, G. Stafford, Messrs. Fairhall, F. White and Bryant.
