TARANAKI COUNCIL MEETS.’ I ■ • ' ' .

The annual meeting of the Taranaki District Council of the New Zealand Horticultural Trades’ Association, held at Stratford on Tuesday, was well attended. Mr, W. Pettigrew occupied the chair aud welcomed members from all parts of Taranaki, also Mr. George A. Green, Dominion secretary. The report showed that in Taranaki on the whole business had been satisfactory and the prospects were good. The finances of the council were in a healthy condition. With a view of securing that all Taranaki autumn, shows should have the advantages of the presence of one or more members of the trade, arrangements were made and it was directed that the schedule be typed and sent to all members interested.

The following remits to the Dominion conference were adopted and are to be sent forward:— That it be a recommendation that a general catalogue or catalogues be adopted officially as a guide to members.

That the council ask the conference to approve the issue monthly of a printed or typed leaflet to'members containing “special offers afid wanted lines” for tho months of May, June, July, September and October. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Chairman, Mr. E. Zumbach (New Plymouth); vice-chairman, Mr. H. Egarr (Tariki); secretary, Mr. G. H. Hills (Normanby); treasurer, Mr. V. C. Davies (New Plymbuth). On the motion of Messrs. Pettigrew and Egarr Mr. V. C. Davies was nominated for a further term as Dominion president. Members spoke of the ability with which Mr. Davies had filled tho office for the last two years and considered that he should carry on for another year. Mr. Green said the sentiments expressed would be endorsed all over the Dominion. The nomination of Mr. W. T. Benfield (Aramoho) was endorsed for the position of North Island vice-president.

Mr. Green later addressed the meeting and gave a review and forecast of operations.
