ENTERED SHED TO SLEEP
TWO MEN SENT TO PRISON.
AUCKLAND BURGLARY CHARGE.
Seven days’ imprisonment was ordered by Mr. R. W. Tate, S.M., yesterday for Sydney Adams and Edward Johnston, who admitted being found in a borough shed at Fitzrpy without lawful excuse but in circumstances not disclosing an intention to commit any other offence. Both were remanded to appear at Auckland on November 10 on charges of breaking apd entering a shop there on September 14 and stealing 25 yards of serge worth £2o.
Explaining the circumstances, SeniorSergeant McCrbrie said that the pair were found in a. shed adjoining the abattoirs. They were arrested following a complaint. “We sheltered there to sleep,” paid Adams when asked if he had anything to say about being unlawfully on premises.
“It’s a very old shed,” said Johnston. “There was no one living there, so we went in to sleep. That’s all 1 want to say.”
