DECREASE IN BUILDING
NEW PLYMOUTH STATISTICS. As in oilier parte of the Dominion,, building activity in New Plymouth was very quiet in October. The buildings erected were dll'small. With alterations to existing buildings, the total sum represented by permits issued was £Ol3B, compared with £22,005 10s in October, 1929. Those erected last October in--eluded several big contracts. Comparative statistics for October, 1930, and October, • 1929, are: Business, 1 (3); dwellings, 8 (il3); alterations, 18 (16); total value, £6138 (£22,005 10s). /■ The figures for the first ten months of 1930 show a decrease of £29,087 10s compared with the first ten months of
