A Sydney cable reports the death of Dr. John Mildred Creed, a member of the Legislative Council, ,aged 88. He was prominent in -public life for many yeai’s and was one of the oldest practitioners in Sydney. He founded the Cremation Society, of which he was president. Aliss Stella Murray arrived at New Plymouth on Thursday evening from Hawke’s Bay. Yesterday she was the guest of tlie Taranaki Women’s Club at a reception held in hex- honour. Last night she was entertained by the Victoria League, and this morning the Choral Society will tendex- her a morning tea reception. Air. L. A. Bosworth, New Plymouth, is leaving to take over the management of a store at Puniho. Air. Bosworth has been closely identified with music fox- many years as a flautist, and has given his services freely in connection witli the work of many organisations. Ho was one of the prime movers in the establishment of the New Plymouth Orchestral Society a few years ago, and has been a member- of the committee almost continuously. Air. Bosworth was a keen tennis player and for many years was a member of tlie Park Chib.

The death has occurred of Air. E H. J. Kalchert, New Plymouth, aged 44 years. Mr. Kalchert was apprenticed 30 years ago to the plumbing trade, serving his time with Alessrs Smart Bros. Later he left the trade and served several years with the New Zealand Navy. He then rejoined Smart Bros, and gained his registration as a plumber. On the outbreak of war he volunteered fox - service and for some time did camp duty at Trentham and then went with one of the reinforcements to Fxtxnce, where ho was gassed. He had suffered periodically evex- since, and spent some time undex- treatment at Waipukurau, but for the last two years he had been unable to follow his occupation. He was a member of the Fitzroy Bowling Club.
