ALLEGATIONS OF LIBEL
WRIT AGAINST MELBOURNE ARGUS.
STORY OF INDIAN DISTURBANCE.

A claim for £lO,OOO damages for alleged libel is made in a writ against the proprietors of the Argus. The writ is on behalf of Cyril Thornton. It states that defendants published an article oh April 22 falsely representing that he went to India to assist rebellious Indians, to create civil turmoil and .arranged to challenge the Government of India by publicly breaking the salt laws.
