THE AJ.C. SPRING CARNIVAL.’ '

A NEW ZEALANDER’S IMPRESSIONS.

Writing to “Moturoa” from Sydney, the well-known racing enthusiast in New Ply* mouth, Mr. P. J. Flannagan, remarks: "The New Zealanders, bar Doug. Webster, have not won out of their turn. Though the newspapers' here have been “roasting” the visitors, some of them have certainly been looking for it. , They gave Jack Cameron a go over Hunting Cry and the majority • are wroth with Harry Telford on account of his allowing Phar .Lap to remain in the Caulfield Cup so long. In fact,.; the V-A-T-C. committee may refuse Telford’s nominations in future. Huntr ing Cry won so well on the last day of the carnival ;tbat it looks as if -something exceptional will be required. to beat him in any race he takes on in New Zealand. Phar Lap is such a remarkable horse that Nightmarch’s form here was a great recommendation for his prospects in the New Zealand Cup. . .He is a solid galloper and back io his very best form. They regard Amounis ap a ‘ Jitter” for. the Caulfield Cup.” (Amounis duly won very comfortably).
