DAIRY FARMERS’ CHEQUES
LARGE SUM CIRCULATED. EFFECT OF GROWING YIELD. The natural increase in dairying production in September was largely responsible for the distribution on Friday and Saturday of £51,733 from the offices of the 23 /dairy companies witn their headquarters in New Plymouth. This is practically double the amount distributed in August ( £29,673). Advances per pound of butter-fat were a trifle lower than for August. The majority of cheese factories paid Is per lb. butter-fat and butter factories paid from lOd to the average being about 10|d. Two of the 23 companies paid a bonus of' altogether £2300 on last season’s working and this is included in the total. Other companies will be making payments of this nature next month. The present advances are made strictly in accord with the London advices from the agents, and are even more conservative than those of the previous month or of September, 1929.
