LEO QUIN CLUB CHAMPION.
.CAPTAIN’S - BEAT PRESIDENT’S.-
The senior championship of the EL tham Golf Club wps decided on Thursday. Leo Quin defeated, his -brother A. ‘J.' Quin by one up. The game was mopt closely contested and at no stage was the margin more than one up. ■ The scores of the champion and the runner-UP at'each hole were: 5—4, 5—6, 4—3, s—4, 4r—4, s—s, 3- —5, 4r-.--4, 4- —4, 4-- —a, ; 6—-5, '3——3,’ 4—-o, .4r~4, 4—5. ‘ The annual game between teams representing the president (J.; L. ''ampbell) and the captain (L- Quin) also took place;on Thursday, the captain’s team winning, by eix games to four. Details are:'—J. L. Campbell beat F. Fallows, A. J. Quin lost to L. T; Quin, E; L. Abbott beat A. A. Stewart, H. Casey lost to N. Phillips, R. Darling lost to F.* Glemow, J.-Morton all-square with A. O. .Casey, H- B,'.Gibson lost K to,.P. de Launay, A- Belcher lost to R. Jefcoate,- S. Cooper beat A. Tiplady, R. H. Free beat'R. Ritter, B. Oldfield lost to T. Fountaine. :
In the evening the winners were the guests of-the losers at a dinner at the Central, when the following toasts were honoured; “The King,” “The Winning Team” (Mr. J. L. Campbell—Mr. L. T. Quin);. .“The Losing Team” (Mr. P. de Launay—Mr. J. ( Morton); “The Game of Golf,” (Mrl.A. A- Stewgrt—-Mr. A. J. Quin.); “Country Members” (Mr. A. 0. Casey—Mr. F. ’ W; Fallows); "The Management Committee” (Mr. A. A. Stewart—Mr. H, Casey) ; “The Ladies” (Mr.'.'R. H. Ffee-rMr. R’. Jefcoate); “Mr.' and Mrs. J: T. Quin sen.”; “The Host and Hostess” (Mr. J. L. Campbell —Air. A. 0. Caeey) ; “The, Senior Champion, .19301’ . (Mr. E. L. -Abbott—Mr. L, T. Quin); “The Press,” and “The President.” Mr. Mprton made references to the Quin family, for the use of their grounds for the links. The club was greatly indebted to’ them.
