PLUCKY CONSTABLE
STOPS iBOLTING HORSE. Constable McKenzie, of GliatswoOd, a Sydney suburb, pluckily seized and stopped a bolting horse on a recent afternoon. The animal, which was harnessed to a heavy dray, bolted along a street when the traffic was at its peak. With the vehicle rocking perilously behind it, and apparently increasing its alarm, the horse careered down the road, narrowly missing pedestrians and vehicles. The constable, flinging himself at the horse, was able to grasp the dangling reins, but he fell and was dragged along one street into another, where, the horse came to a standstill. The constable, suffered injuries to the right wrist and ankle and back.
