TARANAKI MOTHERS’ UNION.

QUIET DAY AT. FITZROY. The members of the Taranaki branches of the Mothers’ Union held their quiet day at Holy Trinity Church, Fitzroy, on. Wednesday. In spite of continuous tain, the attendance numbered 56, fil taking Holy Communion at 10.30 a.m., the Rev. J. Adams being the celebrant.Silence was kept until 3.15 p.m. A spirit of joy- prevailed throughout.the day —joy at. meeting together, in God’s House, joy in the wonderfully; spiritual ' atmosphere created by Mr. Adams, and joy in the loving services rendered in the preparation of luncheon and afternoon tea. The members offer their grateful thanks to Mr. Adams for conducting the services,' all agreeing that it was good to “come apart and rest awhile.” -The first quiet day at Holy Trinity, Fitzroy, will long be remembered by those who were privileged to take part in it. The branches represented were: Stratford 11, Okato 9, Waitara 9, Inglewood 2 and Fitzroy 20.

WOMEN’S DIVISION GROWTH.

BRANCH FORMED AT BELL BLOCK.

At a meeting held at Bell Block this week a branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was formed. Owing to the unavoidable absence of the provincial president, Mrs. R. H. Marsh (president of the Inglewood branch), who was accompanied by Mesdames Allen and Winter (secretary and treasurer respectively), addressed the meeting and explained the aims and objects of the division. At the close of the address it was decided to form a branch, ■' the majority of the ladies present being enrolled as members, ddth the following as office bearers; President, Mrs. T. French; vice-presidents, Mesdames. S. Ogle and A. Grover; secretary, Miss French. It was decided to hold the first meeting of the branch at the residence of Mrs. T, French on Tuesday, November 4, and to invite all ladies interested. At the close of the inecting the visitors were .entertained at afternoon tea.
