Jones, Wellington, was a recent visitor to New Plymouth. 1 . * # . * A gift evening in honour of Miss Nora Palmer, whose marriage will take place shortly to Mr. Jack Hale, of “Holly Oak,” Mangorei, was -held in the Welbourn Hall, Avenue Road, last week. Dancing to music provided by Messrs. Burns and Ibbotson was greatly epjoyed, and euchre was played by non-dancers. Mr. A. E. Washer, during an interval in the proceedings, extended the best • wishes of all present to Miss Palmer,, arid-'also Mr. Hale, and. he specially thanked Miss Palmer, who- had been superintendent of the Anglican Sunday school and' had also, acted as secretary of. th'e;hall com; mittee for two or’three' years.'
