TEN OUTBREAKS OF FIRE
HOTEL BEDROOMS ALIGHT
SUICIDE OF MANAGERESS FINANCE CAUSED WORRY By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10.5 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 14. There were exciting scenes at the fashionable new Lapstone Hotel, which is a popular resort for mountain motorists near, Penrith, in the early morning. Ten fires simultaneously occurred in various bedrooms, bedding and curtains being ablaze. The hotel staff was kept busy extinguishing the flames.
The manageress, Miss Bedora Fernandez, who was in a hysterical condition, Was being questioned by a police j sergeant when she seized a large revolver from an office drawer and shot herself dead. The hotel has been in the hands of a receiver and the police express the opinion that Miss Fernandez was greatly' worried on this account and had made a desperate attempt to burn down the place 1 . The only damage was to bedding and furnishings.
