OLD-FASHIONED BALL SUCCESS.

ANGLICAN CHURCH BENEFIT.

• The old-fashioned ball in the Town Hall on Thursday in aid of the Anglican Church funds was very successful. The music was supplied by Henderson’s orchestra and the floor was in perfect order. The masters of ceremonies were Messrs C. Maindonald and C. McCullum. The supper tables were decorated and laden with home-made delicacies. A ladies committee hah charge of the supper arrangements. Extras were playen by Mrs. E. G. Baylis, Messrs Hooker and Brooker and Mr. S. Shuler (accordeon). The lucky spot dance was won by Miss Alison Smith and Mr. G. McQuaig and the lucky hat dance by Miss Alison Smith and Mr. K. Macks.

CARD PARTIES IN OPUNAKE.

On Wednesday evening Mrs;-- A. O’Brien entertained members of the Opunake Crqquet Club and their friends at flag bridge. The prizes were awarded to Mesdames Grainger and Ritchie

and Miss Speneeley. An enjoyable time was spent by those who attended the surf club’s euchre party in St. Patrick’s Hall on Friday. Supper was provided by the organisers, Mesdames J. Hickey and A. Gadsby. The ladies’ prizes were won by Mrs. J. Geary (first) and Mrs. Gilshnan (second), and the men’s prizes by Mr. W. Fake (first) and Mr. E. J. Wallis (second). Special prizes were won by Mesdames R. S. Jenkin. F. Des Forges, 14. J. Wallis and Mr. K. Macks, two other competitions being won by Mrs. Whittington and Miss M. Byars.
