SWIMMING AT OKATO
ENTHUSIASTIC ANNUAL MEETING. Although weather conditions last night were not such as to voluntarily turn one’s thoughts to swimming, there was a very representative and enthusiastic attendance of members at the Okato Swimming Club’s annual meeting that augurs well for the activities of the coming season. Mr. L. D. Hickford, piesident, occupied the chair. The report and balance-sheet as already published were adopted without discussion, members speaking in eulogistic terms of the work of the committee. Officers were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.P.; president, Mr. L. D. Hickford, president of the Domain Board (re-elected); vicepresidents, Messrs. E. Gibson, P. Corbett, J. O’Sullivan and F. Gill (re-elect-ed); chairman of committee, Mr. J. L. Power (re-elected); secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. G. Cocksedge (re-elected) 5 committee, Miss Julian, Messrs. R. Andrews, E. Corbett, 8. Ellis, P. Slater, P. Corbett and L. O’Sullivan; auditor, Mr. E. B. Corbett (re-elected) ■ timekeeper, Mr. J. L. Power (re-elected); club captain, Miss Julian; vice-captain, Mr. S. Ellis; judges, Messrs. L. D. Hickford, E. Gibson and C. E. Eustace; starter, Mr. P. Corbett; check starter, .Mr. L. Wooldridge; call steward, Mr. E. B. Corbett; delegates to Taranaki Centre, Miss Julian and Mr. J. Garcia; handicappers, Miss Julian and Mr. J. L. Power.
Subscriptions were fixed as follows: — Active members 3s. 6d., junior members Is., honorary, 2s. 6d. Miss Julian was authorised to inter-
view the master' of the Gk.ato school with a view to arranging a suitable timetable for the children’s use of the baths. . Some discussion'took place over the question of the erection of a new dressing shed for the ladies. It was stated that a proposal had been ou foot to erect a new dressing shed on .the. other side of the baths, but owing to the addi-
il tional expense caused by the repairs necessary after the washout at the baths the erection of the dressing shed had to e be deferred. The opening date was left to the comd mittec to arrange, and it was resolved o to make application to the centre for r permission to hold a.carnival on the third ' Saturday in February
