Index figures of the cost of living in Great' Britain have been lower during the past six months than those recorded previously* ut any time since the Great War. The figures show the average percentage increase as compared with July, 1914, for all groups included by the Ministry of Labour in statistics, fell below 60 for tho first time at the beginning of April this year. Two months later it was down to 54 and at the beginning of September it was 57. In 1929 the monthly average percentage increase ranged from 60 to 67. The cost has been decreased mainly by the cheapness of food.
