ROWING IN NEW PLYMOUTH

CLUB HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING.' SUCCESS OF PAST SEASON. The sixth annual meeting of the New Plymouth Rowing Club was held last night. The' report showed the club to be in a sound position, due to a large extent to the enthusiasm shown by the members. Mr. T. Campbell presided. - The balance-sheet showed that the chief items of receipts were subscriptions £26 16s, nominations £7, donations £5 3s, regatta £46 9s, fixed deposits £75 4s sd,* savings bank £BO, sundries totalling £284 4s lid. The chief items of expenditure were regatta trophy money £26 Is 6d, boat fittings and plant £22 Ils 2d, travelling expenses £ll 15s 4d, insurance £2O 4s lid, part payment-on new boat £5O 2s Bd, charges on> new boat £lO 7s 7d, transferences to savings bank £B6 9s. The assets totalled £3BB 7s 10d, while outstanding liabilities were £llO. The chairman in supplementing the report said it was gratifying, to see the wide range of competitions in which members of the club had engaged in, though they had not experienced a great deal°of success at outside regattas. The enthusiasm shown under adverse, conditions augured well for the success of the chib in the future, and as long as the enthusiasm continued the success of the club was' assured. He also welcomed the new members of the club.

The chairman presented the trophies won during 1 the year. A special cup was given °to J. Durdle engraved with a eulogising of his assistance as coxwain from 1925-30.

Tlie following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. J. R. Cruickshank; commodore, Mr. H. C. Collier; vice-com-modore, Mr. E. T. Petty; president, Mr. T. Campbell; vice-presidents, seven were elected; club trustees, Messrs. H. Collier, and J. McLeod; club captain, Mr. H. Hughes; vice-captain, Mr. L. Fill; hon. secretary, Mr. C. C. Burgess; hon. treasurer, Mr. H. Billing; hon, auditor, Mr. C. Smart; executive committee, Messrs. J. Donaldson, A. Burgess, L. Frewin, L. W. Oldridge, J. Gattsche and L. Hill; coaches, Messrs. C. Gray, L. W. Oldridge and E. Pentecost; selection committee, Messrs. L. W. Oldridge, E. Pentecost and the club captain. Mr. J. Donaldson recommended that the committee consider holding trophy races every. month.

An honorarium of £3 3s was voted the secretary. ' . 1 The official opening date was left in the hands of the executive. The members were entertained at supper after the meeting.
