At Albany the Republican Party of New York State nominated Charles Tuttle, former' United,.States Attorney, as candidate for the Governorship on the platform of the repeal of the prohibition law. The platform was written to meet Mr. Tuttlt’s demand for such a declaration and its adoption and his nomination transformed the Republican Party from a “dry” to a “wet” organisation. In New York State the “wets” hailed the event as one of the most important developments for their cause in many years, and. it is predicated it will have far-reaching effects. /
