An ingenious machine, which is claimed to be of great assistance in the training of ,aviation pilots, has been ordered from the United States by the Vacuum Oil Company Proprietary, Ltd., and will shortly be exhibited throughout New Zealand. The machine, which is Used at one of the principal flying schools in the United States, consists of a model aeroplane in a wind tunnel, the movements of the machine being controlled by the pupil. The aeroplane is free to rise or fall, and can bank, climb or dive. The pupil operates controls corresponding to those of a proper aeroplaae and he can watch the movements of the model. _
Cases of poaching and illegal methods of taking trout are being reported in the Pahiatua district, but are not being detected. “Why is it we are unable to sheet home the charge?” asked the committee of the’Pahiatua Angling Club in its report. “Are we so apathetic to our own sport that we cannot catch these offenders ? While it is very true that our district does not receive the systematic ranging which it deserves, a responsibility is incurred/ by club members in detecting and reporting cases of poaching and other illegal methods of taking trout. Enthusiasm for goods made in New Zealand has not lasted long after, New Zealand Industries Week with some retailers, says the Dominion. A lady who does a large amount of knitting, and uses New Zealand wool when she can, partly because of its particular quality and partly because of policy, inquired the day after the “week” concluded at one of Wellington’s largest drapery and clothing shops for New Zealand fingering wool, and was told by the assistant that the establishment did not stock it. It is difficult to secure New Zealand knitting wool at the city shops. This shopper’s desire for the "local product was not prompted by the recent campaign, but has been her policy for months. f
