PLAY BEGINS AT WAIWAKAIH C. H. STEPHENSON LEADS SENIOR JUNIORS LED BY R. RENNER. <' Squally weather and a succession o heavy, drenching showers made condi tiona very difficult for the first qualifying round of the New Plymouth Gol Club’s championships at Waiwakaih on Saturday. Under the conditions th scoring was excellent and the genera standard of scoring greatly in advanc of that of other years, more especiall; among the juniors. The course was ii wonderful order and reflected great ere dit upon the greens committee, the care taker and his assistant. C. H. Stephenson, with the good roum of 76, led, the field by four strokes. Rain was responsible for the cessation of play during the afternoon rounds of the? inter-club match between Inglewood and Waitara clubs at Inglewood during the week-end. This match was arranged at short notice to compensate for‘the game also spoiled by the weather early in the season.
