INCREASE IN YEAR’S PROFIT. London, Sept. 16. A preliminary statement of the results of the activities of Imperial Airwavs, Ltd., for the year ending March 3l "shows that, in spite of world-wide trade depression, which is very liable to affect air transport, profit before deducting charges for absolescence. was moi e than £145,000, compared with £115,000 Ig st year. With the rapid development and improvement in air design, the directors have set aside £85,000 for obsolescence, as against £36,000 last year. This year saw the first of the Eng-land-India service, which has • proved veiy profitable. Less profit was made on the shorter services owing to the competition of heavily subsidised Continental companies.
