Hyde, the Secretary for Agriultrire, and Mr. Silas Strawn, counsel or the committee of the Chicago Board flf Trade, have revealed that they have made no progress toward an agreement upon. the effect of the alleged Russian wheat sales following a conference be-tween-Mr. Hyde and the Chicago committee, in which Mr. Hyde’s assertions that Russian short-selling ha<J a serious effect upon the market were denied. Mr. Hyde contipijed to insist that it was important that short-selling be.stopped,. while the Board of Trade representatives declared that the trading had only a “negligible effect on the market.”
